Don is the founder, president and owner of Effectiveness Associates, an eight-member leadership, management and coaching consulting group in Colorado Springs. He was an educator for 22 years serving in roles as a biology teacher, high school principal, superintendent, area superintendent and director of training and development both in Nebraska and Colorado. For the past 21 years, Don has been an executive coach and consultant to teams and organizations in both the private and public sector throughout the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Turkey and South Korea.
In addition to his consulting practice, Don teaches graduate courses at the University of Denver in leadership, management, emotional intelligence, and managing conflict in the workplace. He has been an adjunct executive feedback coach at the Center for Creative Leadership since 1994. In his role at the Center, he has worked with and provided one-on-one coaching to over 1,200 C.E.O.s and senior executives from numerous Fortune 500 companies such as Nabisco, Calvin Klein, MasterCard, Boston Scientific, Experian, AT&T, Nortel Networks, Dell Computer Corp., Prudential, Maytag, Daimler-Chrysler, United Defense, Boston Scientific Inc., Pfizer Pharmaceuticals (U.S., Turkey and South Korea), Xerox Corp., Department of Interior, N.S.A., N.A.S.A., National Park Service and the Department of Defense.
Over the past 21 years, Don has been sought out for his assistance and expertise in the following areas: One-on-one executive coaching, administration of self and 360° feedback (utilizing 18 different instruments), training and leading executive seminars in team development, emotional intelligence, coaching for results, and mediation in the workplace. He has authored numerous articles on leadership, team development and contract negotiations.
Don completed his undergraduate, masters, and doctoral work at the University of Nebraska. His doctoral work was completed on the subject of leadership and its impact on organizational climate and productivity.
Don and his wife Wendy have been married for 40 years. They have three grown children. Don enjoys spending time in the outdoors, running, hiking, skiing, fly-fishing and motorcycling.
